George P. Staples

CHAPIN - A memorial service for George Pellew Staples, beloved husband of Joan Margaret Lummis Staples of Chapin, will be held at Christian Life Church, 2700 Bush River Rd., Columbia, SC on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.

George, the son of George Pellew Staples and Gertrude Bridget Lynch, was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and corporate transfers moved him to New York City, Pittsburgh, PA and Columbia, SC.

Active in serving community needs, amongst which he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eau Clair Co-Operative Health Centers, past President of Rotary Club of Lake Murray/Irmo, and a Commander in Royal Rangers at Christian Life Church.

George was the devoted father of David George (Johanna) of Dubai, UAE; Michael John of Florida; and Richard Paul of Canada. He was a devoted grandfather of Bonnie (Andy) Harrington; Charles David (Emily) Staples of Florida; Michael Joshua Staples of North Carolina; Matthew Caleb (deceased), Kathlynn Leigh Calkin (Josh) Miller of Lexington, SC; Richard George (Lou) Staples, Caroline Paulena McDonald Staples, Connor Krystofer Staples of Chapin, SC; Oliver Hugo and Maya Adelaide Staples of UAE. Also, the devoted great-grandfather of Abigail Hanson and Jonah Charles Staples of Florida; Avary and Delia Miller of Lexington, SC.

The family will receive friends in the main lobby of Christian Life Church after the memorial service.
