

John “Brownie” Lloyd Sides, Jr., crossed the river to Heaven Sunday, September 18, 2022, free from cancer and pain. Brownie was born in the little red house on the hill in Wetumpka, Alabama to John Lloyd and Catherine Sides, September 15, 1946.
Brownie was larger than life and loved by so many. He played football at the University of Alabama for Coach Bear Bryant 1964, 65, 66 and 67. During his college career, he was a defensive tackle for two National Championship teams. After college, Brownie played two years with the Miami Dolphins.
On a beautiful February day 28 years ago, he married Nancy after two weeks of dating. They both knew they had found the love of a lifetime.
They built a wonderful life together and worked side by side at their business, Sides Financial Strategies. Brownie and Nancy lived life to the fullest.
The family left to remember all the love and fun times are his wife, Nancy; brother, Barry (Joanna); sons, John L Sides, III (Tiffaney), Roger F. Colchin (Alyssa); daughters, Stephanie Brant (Jody), Lorena Edwards (Scott), Lindsey Terry (Duane); grandsons, Tucker Brant, Hutch Brant; granddaughters, Ashlynn Rivers (Dillon), Mary Grace Edwards, Kathryne Sides, Lauren Sides, Maizlyn Colchin; great granddaughter, Rena Edwards, and great grandson to be born January 2023.
The funeral services will be held Thursday, September 22 at Chapin Baptist Church, 950 Old Lexington Hwy., Chapin at 1 o’clock with visitation to follow. The family asks everyone to wear crimson and white to the service.

Brownie loved the Lord, his wife, family, friends and clients. He is enjoying Heaven, and for those of us left behind there will forever be a hole in our hearts. Roll Tide!!
