Theresa Susan Sherer, 65, of Columbia, SC died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at her home. Born in Jasper, AL, she was the daughter of the late Lottie and HR Ray. She graduated from University of Alabama and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She concluded a four-decade career as a public educator while teaching at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Susan is survived by her four children, Christopher Jaynes (Carla) of Charlotte, Rebekah Jaynes, Sarah Jaynes, and Zachary Jaynes all of Columbia and two beloved grandchildren, Felix and Clark. She is also survived by two brothers, Dennis (Valerie) and Erik (Debbie) and a niece Emma, all of Alabama.
Known as Bammy by her grandchildren, Susan loved gardening, reading, and being outdoors. Susan walked the entire Palmetto Trail, became a SC State Park Ultimate Outsider, volunteered with the USO and became a National Parks traveler. ROLL TIDE!
