Chad Hunter Fortney

Chad Hunter Fortney passed away suddenly on April 25, 2015. He was residing in Florida. He was born July 18, 1988 in Nashville, TN. Raised in Charleston, WV. He attended George Washington High School and West Virginia State College where he was on the golf team. Chad was an exceptional athlete and loved skateboarding. He was a loving son and brother and a sweet, kind, and funny person. Chad had a generous, caring and helpful spirit that touched many lives. He held his mother closest in his heart. Chad is survived by his mother Sherry Fitzsimmons Mohler, stepfather David Mohler, father Douglas Fortney, brothers Nicholas Fortney, Will and Matthew Mohler (Angela), sister Katie Cross (Josh), grandmother Ju-Wanna Fortney, grandfather Herb Fitzsimmons, aunt Marjorie Fitzsimmons, uncle David Fortney and niece Ava Noel Fortney, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandmother Mary Oxley Martin, step-grandfather Gerald Martin, grandfather Alvie Fortney and aunt Inetta Dotson. Funeral services will be Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee St. West. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery, Rich Fork Road. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7PM Saturday, May 2 at the funeral home.
