Joseph Lewis Kates

Joseph L. “Pops” Kates, 68, of Charleston passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at his home. He was born July 8, 1946 a son of the late E.Z. Baskin and Mildred Lucille Kates Pearson. Joseph was a retired carpenter. He was a US Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. Surviving is his loving wife of 41 years, Dreama, two daughters, Gypsy Robinson of OH, Melissa Johnson of Ca, one son Joseph Rivers of Wash, 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, one brother, Richard James of Charleston, three sisters, Jacqueline Hill of Charleston, Emery Banks of In, and Brenda Kates of Charleston and host of family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 1pm at Wilson Funeral Home, 420 Lee St. West. Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm at the funeral home.
