Preceding her in death were her husband John Lee Hunter (1961) and children Johnny Rickey Hunter (1998), Dennis Randy Hunter (2017) and Roy Lee Hunter (2021). She will also be joining her mother,
stepfather, two brothers and one sister, plus many more.
Ada faced and survived many different illnesses through the years, including Covid-19. She was
always a strong woman, which served her well and proved to be “A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW”!
She taught her children many lessons through her example of hard work and UNCONDITIONAL
LOVE! FAMILY MEANT EVERYTHING TO HER!
Surviving to carry on her legacy are her remaining children Glenn Ronald Hunter (Sherry) and Nancy Diane Hunter Royen (Dave), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Ada had several different jobs before retiring after a 25-year career as a seamstress at Shaw
Furniture (Pennsylvania House). She later went back to work as a door greeter for Wal-Mart where she worked almost 19 years, retiring a second time at the age of 85!
Gardening, flowers, puzzles, and bingo brought Ada much joy! She grew many of her own vegetables and shared with family and friends. She was an amazing cook!
She will be missed by many including all the family and friends that survive her and the nurses, staff and caregivers from Old Knox Commons, who became like family! SHE LOVED EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN!
In John 15: V 17, JESUS SAYS, “THIS IS MY COMMAND: LOVE EACH OTHER”
We will gather to celebrate Ada’s life on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Service, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. Visitation will start at 11am with a service following at noon.
