Alan Jay Burge

Alan “Jay” Burge, age 60, loving father and husband, passed away in the early hours of 17th of June after a courageous battle with liver disease. Alan, known as “Jay” was born on January 25th, 1962 in Greensboro, NC to Ruby Jessup and Lee Green Burge.

He was a graduate of Winston Salem State where he played wide receiver on their football team. He had a successful career as a network engineer in the banking industry.

Jay was a loving husband to his wife Barbara Burge and a devoted father to his two sons, Cameron, and Brandon Burge. He was a stepfather to AJ And Tiffiny and a grandfather to Bradley, Ariana, Sofia, and Zahir Jay Zepeda-Burge. Zahir will be born in July 2022 and Jay couldn’t wait to meet him.

He was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved sports. He spent most of his time in one of his (two) man caves enjoying football and basketball games. He was also a grill master and an excellent cook and belonged to “Just A Few Brothers” social club.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Jessup and father, Lee Green Burge. Jay is survived by his wife, two sons, two stepchildren, four grandchildren, one brother and one stepsister.

A memorial service to say final goodbyes is scheduled for 2 pm on Saturday, June 25th, 2022, at McEwen Funeral Service-Derita Chapel
