

Born September 21, 1952 in Boston, MA, Al was the son of Richard Earl Forbes and Phoebe Lorraine MacDonald Forbes. Al grew up in Endicott, NY where he attended Endicott High School. He graduated from Syracuse University and later received a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Virginia.
Al worked for IBM for 19 years as a software development manager. Following that, he was a financial advisor and owner of Forbes Financial Advocates for 20 years. He was a 30 year member of University City United Methodist Church and volunteered at several local men's shelters. Throughout his life he coached youth sports, including softball, baseball, soccer, and basketball.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Owens Booth Forbes; daughter, Evelyn Forbes Cone (Tripp); 3 sons, Richard MacDonald “Mac” Forbes (Katie), William Allan "Will" Forbes (Natalie) and Allan Bruce Forbes; 5 grandchildren, Caroline Cone, Cort Cone, Ellie Forbes, Wesleigh Forbes, Molly Forbes, and another granddaughter on the way. Survivors also include his sister, Janice Jonas, sister-in-law, Julia Forbes, brother-in-law, George Booth II, nephew, George Booth III (Stephanie), nieces, Heather Forbes, Catherine Lacey, Emily Owens, great-nephews, Colin Booth, Caleb Booth, and great-niece, Audrey Booth.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bruce Forbes, and brother-in-law, Harald Jonas.
A funeral service will take place at University City United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 17th at 2pm with a visitation at 1:30pm.
