Please join us on Wednesday May 11, 2022 to celebrate the life of Frances "Ann" J. Motley. Mom left this life peacefully May 4, 2022, at 95 years of age, Mom will be deeply missed by her loving family and many friends. Her husband of 37 years, Alfred L. Motley, passed in March of 1990. Together, they were the loving parents of 3 sons, Stephen Thomas (wife Joyce), David Jonathan (deceased 2004) and John Scott Motley. Grandmother of Leigh Ann Ordan and Tyler Jordan Motley (wife Olivia) and Great Grandmother to Kennedy Bella Ordan. Kennedy and Mom shared 3 winks often, their special shared message of “I love you”. The separation is a burden we must share as a family, fully aware she is now in a better place.
Mom was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia on December 7, 1926 to Thomas and Ella B. Jolly. With 3 brothers and 3 sisters, the Jolly’s were true to their surname. It was always a pleasure to be in the midst of her family, relatives and friends. They had so much fun together! They are such a special family! Mom is survived by 2 sisters, Phyllis Motley and Nancy Gordon and a special sister in law, Melba Jolly. In additional there are several cousins, nephews and nieces as well.
Our Father’s profession took him to Alexandria, Virginia, then Greenville, South Carolina and to Charlotte in 1972 where we joined Mulberry Baptist Church. Mom put her arms around the church and served faithfully in many volunteer roles over many, many years. From her adult special needs class at church, to a hospice volunteer at the hospital and as a caretaker to her many friends in life. This remarkable, gracious woman was the example of compassion, faith and humanity. Her spirit was always positive, she found the best in everyone she encountered and her unconditional love for her church and her family was evident to all.
The Motley family want to acknowledge and thank the Hospice Nurse Carol Faulkner with Carolina Caring and private duty Nurse Deborah Montalvo. With the help of these ladies we were able to keep Mom comfortable with their quality of life care. These are very special people to the family.
