Aron Berhe was one of 10 children born to the late Mr. Berhe Berhanu and Ms. Mulu Mesfin on April 15, 1950 in Asmara. His education path began at The Evangelical Mission in Asmara and continued his high school at Kotebe College, Addis Ababa. In 1970 he moved to the United States to attend Jackson State University for his undergraduate degree and continued on to Mississippi State University for his graduate degree in Accounting. He then joined Grambling State University in Louisiana and taught from 1979-1984. During his years at Grambling State, he dutifully fulfilled his role not only as a professor to his students, but also as a mentor and advisor.
Aron is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Ms. Tsege Gebremariam and sons, Tesfa, Alula and Omaye Berhe. In 1984, Aron with his family moved to Charlotte, NC to establish his pioneering family business along with his siblings. While in Charlotte, he played an active part in the social fabric of the Ethiopian community and nurtured his relationship with many. Those who knew him appreciated his uncanny attitude towards life and contagious inner joy.
Aron's life has been full; he enjoyed life and laughter with his friends and family. His life may have been brief, but he would not have wanted it lengthened with grief.
Although his daparture has left a void in all of us, his wishes would be to fill the void with joyful and pleasant memories. He had a big heart, and an undying love for his family. Above all, he understood that life was a brief gift from God, and that it should be enjoyed to its fullest.
