

Born July 10, 1958, in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Paul Pichon Hussey and the late Elaine Blumer Hussey Buxton. Following graduation from St. Vincent’s Academy High School, she attended Armstrong State College where she earned an associate degree in Dental Hygiene. She worked for several dentists in Savannah, Oklahoma City, Atlanta and the last 33 years in Charlotte.
Barbara was known by many names, with her mother and sister calling her “Barbie”; her work family calling her ”Barb” and her husband calling her “Honey”, “Babe” and “Dear” in addition to Barbara. Her children called her “Mom”.
A devout Catholic, Barbara attended several different Catholic churches in the above-mentioned cities. She spent 27 years in devotion at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Charlotte and the last 7 years in worship at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Charlotte. She loved attending Masses in different cities on her many travels.
Barbara’s joy in life was her family and friends. She supported her three sons through sports, academic programs and the journey through the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Barbara attended almost every football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse and taekwondo events that her sons participated in. Barbara enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie of the other parents. Barbara served as a Cub Scout den mother and Boy Scout volunteer for all three sons.
Barbara was fitness fanatic, working out five times a week, to include hiking the North Carolina mountains with her sister and visiting numerous national parks and monuments in which there had to be a minimum of one 5 mile hike each day. Barbara found numerous life-long friends in her daily workouts at various gyms.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Charles P. Daly; three sons, Matthew L. Daly of Charlotte, Paul E. Daly (Bianca), of Jacksonville, Florida, and Christopher R. Daly, of Charlotte; one grandson, Anthony Daly; as well as her sister, Cecile Chadwick (James). She also had numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 1st, 2024 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC. There will be a short reception following the Mass.
