Barbara Honeycutt Graham

Bobbie, as she was affectionately known, was born on October 30, 1934, in Mecklenburg county, and remained a lifelong resident. She married her first husband, Rudy Newell, with whom she had three daughters. As a young widow, she went to work as a bookkeeper, but her main focus was on the well being of her girls.

After a few years, Gilbert Graham came into her life and became the best dad to these little girls. Robert, their only son, came along one year later. Bobbie and Gil shared over 40 years together.

Bobbie was an active member of Providence Baptist Church for over 40 years and participated in the AGAPE Sunday School class, taught Sunday School, tutored Jackson Park students and participated in Prime Timers.

Throughout her life, Bobbie enjoyed singing in many choirs, including the church and Encore choirs at Providence Baptist, and finally, the choir at Matthews Glen Retirement Community where she lived for the past six years.

Bobbie was very competitive by nature, and was always up for a game of cards or Rummi Kub. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and cooking, especially baking. She was known for making the best cakes and pies.

Bobbie will be remembered by her beautiful smile and her ability to make friends wherever she lived. She was very happy living her final years at Matthews Glen with the special people she met there.

Bobbie is survived by her four children, Janet Newell, Brenda Jordan, Robin Bartholomew (Dennie) and Robert Graham. She is also survived by five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Dot Godley Sykes is her only surviving sibling.

Mother, Momma, Maw Maw Bobbie, Bobbie or Barbara (however you know her) will be missed.

Due to this past weekend's unforeseen weather, Bobbie's Memorial Service has been moved to Monday, February 9, 2026, at Providence Baptist Church at 1:00 PM, with a reception to follow. Bobbie will be laid to rest at Amity Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church.
