Born March 1, 1945 in New York City, Barbara dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband of 55 years, Francis J. Proto, and their four children. She resided in Columbus, Ohio for 40 years, followed by a move to Charlotte, NC to be close to family.
She is survived by her children Laura, husband Tommy; Jennifer, husband Alexander; John, wife Brooke; and Paul, wife Kate. Along with eight beautiful grandchildren Jack, Anna, Bridget, Walter, Samuel, Xavier, Maya, and Violet. She also leaves behind her beloved golden retriever Buckeye. We will all miss her and hope to keep her memories alive.
She was a member of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Charlotte, NC, and a mass will be held there on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 at 10am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ASPCA, in support of the animal community and her love of her dog.
