

Barbara Lynn Simons of Charlotte, NC died Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, NC. Born in High Point, NC where she was raised, she was the daughter of Herman and Dee Lynn.
She attended Furman University and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill as one of the first women graduation classes and was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. She was honored to be crowned Miss Dixie "Queen of the South" which was judged on intellect, talent and beauty.
As a member of the Mint Museum, she volunteered countless hours of service. Mom was an avid bridge player whose license plate touted "3 No Trump"! She was an antique dealer specializing in collectable old tins, and her home was featured on the Mint Museum Tour of Homes. Loving her gardening, she was a long time member of the Foxcroft Garden Club. She also played Myers Park Country Club Tennis for many years and she enjoyed watching golf with her father who played with Bobby Jones at Georgia Tech. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. In her later years, she delighted in feeding the birds from her balcony at The Cypress.
Mrs. Simons will be remembered for her humor, jovial personality, and generous spirit.
Survivors include her children, son, William B. Simons IV and wife, Camille; daughters, Dee Simons and Lyn Simons; granddaughters, Whitney and Barbara Parker; and grandsons, Benjamin and Zachary Simons. Mrs. Simons was married to William B. Simons III, the father of her children. The family would like to express deep gratitude to her caregivers, Peggy and Vickie, and The Cypress of Charlotte.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 30, 2012 at The Cypress of Charlotte Clubhouse, 3442 Cypress Club Drive, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, and also from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road. A memorial service will be private.
