Betty Holcombe Fennell

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home and interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.

Betty was born October 21, 1931, in Chester, SC, to the late Robert Lee Holcombe, Jr. and Lucile Conrad King. She graduated from Chester High School in 1951. In 1954 she married her husband of 59 years, John R. Fennell. She was a member and volunteer at South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fennell was preceded in death by her nephew Lane Holcombe of Myrtle Beach and brother-in-law, Alvin C. Fennell. She is survived by her husband, John Fennell of the home; sons, Eric Fennell of Charlotte, Barry Fennell of Raleigh; brother, Bobby Holcombe and wife Barbara of Chester, SC; nephew, Lee Holcombe of Clemson, SC and cousins, Barbara Crawford and Patsy Picklesimer both of Greenville, SC and many other cousins.
