Betty Lou Ross

Betty Faulkner Ross passed away March 12, 2026 in Charlotte, NC. She was born March 20, 1937 in Madison County, Illinois. Her parents were Russell Sanders Faulkner and Edna Mae Wehrman Faulkner. She married Joe Hulen Ross on March 2, 1957.

Betty graduated from Alton High School. She participated in the senior Olympics, running track and playing basketball where she broke records and received many medals. She also played on the church softball league.

She enjoyed reading, baking, getting together with her family, taking care of her chickens and her furbabies. She loved cooking and baking for her family especially on the holidays. Betty’s fudge and homemade yeast rolls were two of the most requested baked items by everyone because they were made from scratch.

She loved decorating for Christmas with her many musical decorations. Betty attended Mountain Island Church of Christ (formerly Westside Church of Christ) before she moved, then attended Gastonia Church of Christ.

Betty is survived by her husband, Joe of 69 years; children, Joe Jr and Sylvia of Morehead City, NC, Jim of Kings Mountain, NC, Becky and Howard of Gastonia, NC, John and Joan of Charlotte,NC; seven grandchildren, Amanda, William, Mike, Randy, Jeff, Wes and Tanner; seven great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Peyton, Makayla, Olivia, Riley, Riker, and Victor and her brother, Gerald Faulkner.

She will be greatly missed by her family.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Sanders Faulkner and Edna Mae Wehrman Faulkner; and her brother Russell Thomas Faulkner.
