Brenda Stallings Brank, “Nana”, 78, of Charlotte, passed away on January 27, 2021 of natural causes at her home. Born and raised in Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Justice William Stallings and Zenna McCurry Stallings.
Nana was an alumna of Gardner Webb University. She spent twenty plus years at Hoechst Celanese where she met her beloved husband of 33 years, Paul W (Bill) Brank.
Nana loved Jesus, her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, making stained glass, hymns, her church family, HGTV, shopping and gardening. Her greatest gift to others was her ability to show love to those around her. She was truly the happiest when she was spending time with her children and grandchildren. To understand the love she had for her children and especially grand and great-grandchildren, is to listen to them speak about Nana’s “snack blanket”, fishing at Nana’s pond and sleepovers at Nana’s.
Most people don’t know this, but Nanna was a professional weather caster. There was never a storm, high winds, excessive heat or cold that Nana did not bring to her daughters’ attention in order to “prepare”.
For her final year and a half Nanna resided in the home next door to Tracy and Todd. It was a distinct pleasure to have her presence in the home on a daily and nightly basis.
To summarize a wonderful life and individual, Webster’s should modify the definition of love to…. Nana.
She is survived by daughter, Tracy Dunnagan and husband Todd of Charlotte; daughter, Tyra Kirby and
husband Jay of Hendersonville, NC; eight grandchildren: Zach Dunnagan, Justice Dunnagan, Will Dunnagan and wife Macy, Katie Dunnagan, Emma Dunnagan, Carson Kirby, Madison Kirby, and Trey Kirby; a great-granddaughter, Hadley Dunnagan; a sister, Lois Bostic; and nieces, Patsy Johnson and Rise Bostic. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; her son, Travis Greer; and
siblings, Colleen Johnson, Ruth Stallings, Vernon Stallings and Melba Robbins.
A service in celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Matthews. Due to Covid-19, we will not have a visitation or interment.
