Born on March 4, 1957, Calvin was the beloved son of George and Rebecca Ray. He grew up in the Charlotte community and graduated from South Mecklenburg High School before continuing his education at Central Piedmont Community College.
Calvin proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, carrying with him the discipline, loyalty, and strength of character that defined his life. Known for his knowledge, strong will, and dependable nature, Calvin was someone others could rely on—steadfast, thoughtful, and unwavering in his commitments.
In his quiet moments, Calvin found joy in tending to his yard gardening, planting trees, and nurturing anything that dared to grow. He had a remarkable green thumb and took pride in keeping his home immaculate. He also had a soft spot for a stray cat he nursed back to health, lovingly known as Pretty Boy. A true lover of solitude, he cherished peaceful days spent listening to Jazz and Gospel music. Though he was a natural loner, he treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
