Cariabel “Kerry” Bailey, 95, went home on June 15, 2024 to be with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She left this world gently as she spent her last days with her family near. Kerry was born on August 21, 1928 to the late Wallace and Carrie Morris of Weddington, NC. Her mother passed away shortly after childbirth and she was raised by the love of her many sisters and father. Kerry was preceded in death by her husband Donald A. Bailey, Sr., her eldest son “Donnie” Bailey Jr., and her seven older sisters: Grace, Sarah, Margaret, Mary, Katherine, Virginia, and Wallace. We celebrate the reunion of Kerry with her precious loved ones in heaven and know that it is sweet!
Kerry was a lifelong member of Glenwood ARP Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Kerry lived her life as a faithful Christian, and we are grateful for her example. She retired from Eckerd after 30 years of service. After retirement, she became a full time caregiver to her husband, our beloved Pawpaw Bailey, as he navigated complex medical diagnoses.
Through her caregiving she showed us all the power of faith, family, and love. Her home was always a warm safe place filled with laughter and family. She enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, gardening, and most notably music. From Elvis to gospel, she loved to surround herself with music.
Kerry was most known for the unconditional love she showed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. We honor the family she and “Paw Paw” built.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah Kalinoski and husband Bobby of Lake Norman, NC and Dee Auten and husband David of Concord, NC, and daughter in law Rebecca Bailey of Matthews, NC.
She has 7 grandchildren that carry her love with them daily. Shannon Bailey Chowning (Greg) of Mint Hill, NC, Kerry “Jenny” Moros (Matt) of Charlotte, NC, Jewel Van De Venter (Nathan) of Stanley, NC, Clint Bailey (Kristina) of Waxhaw, NC, Jody Swanson (Ben) of Denver, CO, Trenton Bailey Auten of Charlotte, NC and Kyndal Auten (Dave) of Boone, NC.
She has 14 great-grandchildren who love their “Gigi”: Jamie Lynn, True, Carliegh, Joby, Kennedy, Jake, Deliliah, Lilian, Oliver, Cameron, Katsu, Everliegh, Laynie, and Johnny.
We will remember her as we hear a favorite old time church hymn, the smell of fresh biscuits, beans on the stove, or hum of a sewing machine. She is forever in our hearts and we cherish the many moments that were created because of her love and dedication to her family.
Her love for her family was so evident. We thank you, Mom, Maw Maw, Gigi for those priceless memories that will forever be in our hearts.
It is difficult to truly put into words the amazing woman that she was and the impact she had on all of us. She will never be forgotten.
We know your hands are now steady, your mind is now sharp, and your heart is now whole again.
We invite you to a celebration of her life on her birthday, Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn West 4601 Freedom Dr, Charlotte, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Levine and Dickson Hospice House of Huntersville, 11900 Vanstory Dr, Huntersville, NC 28078.
