

Mr. Haskin, age 88, of Charlotte, died peacefully Friday, September 25 at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville. Born September 11, 1927 in Charlotte, he was the son of the late Carl Euel Haskin and Ruth Logan Haskin.
“Eddie”, as he was known by family and friends, learned to be a proficient carpenter with his dad, as well as a pilot. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served his country as an Electrician’s Mate on the aircraft carrier USS Ranger during
WW II. Working for Holman and Moody, he built NASCAR race engines. He also worked for Ford Racing’s NASCAR Team for years. He retired from City Chevrolet in 1992.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 30 at 1:30 PM. The Service to celebrate his life will follow at 2:30 PM. A graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park at 3:30 PM.
Survivors include; four children, Donna Haskin Creasey and husband, Dan, Edward Franklin Haskin, and wife Julia, Russell Wayne Haskin and wife, Brenda, and Cheryl Haskin Blair; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haskin was preceded in death by his wife, Madelon Graft Haskin, and sister, Mary Lou Parker.
