Carolyn White Walker

Carolyn White WalkerMrs. Walker, 86, of Charlotte passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2009, at Asbury Care Center. Born in Winston-Salem on September 6, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn Baines White and Ira Hill White where she graduated from Grey High School of Winston-Salem.Carolyn worked with her husband, Ormel (Bud) H Walker, Jr. at O. H. Walker Insurance Agency, Inc. from 1965 until her retirement in 1988. She is survived by her son, Ormel (Buddy) H Walker, III, his wife, Sylvia S Walker, and their daughters, April M Walker, Alison W Priory, her husband Ricky Priory, and great-granddaughters Mackenzie and Madeline Priory. She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth (Sis) Wingate from Renton, WA and a brother Bruce White, Winston-Salem, NC and many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was predeceased by sisters, Hilda Parks, Lucille Wright and brothers, Calvin White and Joe Bill White.Carolyn was a member of Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church since 1951 and the Miller Sunday School Class. She and Bud made numerous friends at their church and enjoyed many years of traveling with them. Carolyn loved working in the yard and growing beautiful flowers and was an excellent cook who enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to cook and sharing meals with friends and family in times of need.The family will receive friends at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC on Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. with a service to celebrate her life on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church, 501 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC. Interment in the church’s memorial garden will be private. The family wishes to thank all Carolyn’s caregivers at Aldersgate/Asbury Care for the last three years who treated her with love and dignity. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Hawthorne Lane UMC, 501 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.Harry & Bryant Company is serving the family.
