

Catherine Frances Mullis, 71, of Charlotte, passed away on Thursday, August 4. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211, on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 11:00 am, with visitation for family and friends at 10:00 am.
Catherine was born on November 17, 1950 in Greensboro, NC, daughter of the the late John and Madeline Mullis. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Theresa Eileen Mullis and brother, Joseph Christopher Mullis.
Catherine graduated from South Mecklenburg High School and from the Central Piedmont Community College nursing program. Catherine was a career registered nurse, working for more than thirty years in Charlotte, in Boston at the renowned Massachusetts Eye and Ear Hospital as a staff nurse and as a specialized operating room nurse, and in Myrtle Beach as a Red Cross nurse. Upon retiring, she moved back to Charlotte to assist in caring for her aging parents. Due to medical concerns, she had lived for the last few years in an assisted living health residence.
Catherine was a very outgoing person with many interests and hobbies. Following her father’s footsteps, she was an avid ham radio operator. She had many interesting domestic and international contacts, including a few ground-to-air contacts with her brother while he was in the Navy flying in Europe. She loved children and was very engaged with her many nieces and nephews. Catherine enjoyed adventurous travel, making several trips to Western Europe. She loved cooking and dining out. Due to her travel encounters in Spain, she also enjoyed collecting delicate, intricate LLadro’ figurines. Spiritually devout, she had a very generous, giving nature, and fully enjoyed doing things for people. The New England and Carolina beaches were especially appealing to Catherine and she took advantage of visiting them when she was able.
Catherine is survived by her brother, John T. Mullis and his wife Sarah of Germantown, TN; her wonderful caregiver and twin, Anne Marie Price and husband Robert of Lancaster, SC; sister, Patricia Madeline O’Neill and her husband Brian of Daufuskie Island, SC; and sister-in-law, Addy Jean Mullis of Charlotte. Catherine is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Angels, Belmont, NC, who provides specialized, round-the-clock care for children and adults with intellectual developmental disabilities and critical medical care needs.
