I met Cecil on October 7, 1994 at the MPT fall picnic.  I thought he looked exactly like Willie Nelson.  My first impression of Cecil still stands today:  great sense of humor, a perfect gentleman,  very intelligent and highly motivated.  Above all, his deep love for Grace,  Amy,  Katie and Emily was very evident.  He supported his family unconditionally.   Cecil was apparently a great cook and we shared a love for liver and onions.      He always had a cold beer waiting  for me when I visited.  Cecil's health took many turns in recent years and now he is where nothing hurts and all the parts work.   I am lifting Grace and the family up in prayer.  RIP Cecil.

Cecil was such a caring person.  He was always smiling and upbeat.  Through his words and actions it was obvious that he loved his family and life.  His presence was always calm and soothing.  I know I will miss his laughter, smiles, and hugs.  I am grateful to have been able to be a part of his life and family.

Cecile was my second cousin, his father and my grandfather being brothers, but our lives crossed only a few times over the years.  As a child, maybe 10, I spent a lot of time at his family's farm.  I rode in that old Model A when he came to get me after I had cut my foot in the creek.  Years later we had lunch in Palm Beach Gardens when he was visiting my mother, Helen Allen Averill.  I enjoyed another visit around 2007, when once again he and Grace visited my mother, this time in Summerfield, FL.  From then on, our time together was only through letters and emails.   I'm sorry I missed out on all of the humor.  My prayers go out to the family.

We were so fortunate to have known Cecil and to have him as our neighbor. I remember how he would always tease that he was going to steal my Mustang convertible every time I drove by. I also remember when he and Grace were taking care of a litter of kittens. He would always invite our daughter, Sarah (very young at the time) to come see them. He and Grace made and gifted the most beautiful Christmas ornaments which we still have and treasure. Cecil, we hope you are dancing in heaven now. Thanks for the memories!

Cecil was one of the nicest people I ever met. Always always a smile. The love he had for his family was beyond. I will miss his smile, his friendship. Rest in peace Cecil. Much love and thoughts for Grace, Amy, Kate and Emily.

While one of my earliest childhood memories was a visit to Uncle Cecil and Aunt Verdine in Miami, one of the blessings I have had as an adult was to spend some weekends in Charlotte with Uncle Cecil and Aunt Grace and getting a chance to know them.  Two of the sweetest and best people I know (and glad to call family).   Even though Cecil married into my family he will be sorely missed and never forgotten!

Cecil and I became good friends in H.S  at Cerro Gordo Il.  We double dated for the proms in the last two years of H,
I remember riding in his old Model A Ford  car!   After H.S  we went out separate ways, he to the Navy  and me to the AF
Over the years we reconnected again, I really don't know how.                  Several years ago he and Grace came back to Il to see some cemeterys and people.  My wife and I had a nice visit with them.                  Goodbye old friend!

I will miss him so much. I remember as a small child him playing checkers and dominos with us and he would always cheat. He would send puzzles to my grandma, his sister Mary Jane Bobb, and he would steal some of the pieces and mail them too her later. He had a great since of humor and was always smiling and happy. I love you Uncle Cec you will be missed by many but never forgotten.  Say hi to grandma for me.
