Born on August 22, 1976, in Hoffman Estates, IL, Mike spent his formative years in Pittsburgh, PA, where he graduated from Fox Chapel High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Elon University where he was a proud member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. After college, he moved to San Francisco, where he met Morgan Ansley Griffith. Together, they built a life in Charlotte, NC, where they lovingly raised their three children—Brooks, Ryann, and Emory.
More than anything, Mike was a devoted father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his kids—coaching their teams, playing outside, and cheering them on in everything they did. Whether playing all-time goalie for his daughters, throwing baseballs to his son, or simply making them laugh, he was always encouraging and their biggest fan.
In his free time, Mike loved staying active - running, working out, and spending time outdoors with the family dogs. A lifelong sports fan, he bled black and gold for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.
Mike will be remembered for his magnetic spirit, quick wit, and infectious sense of humor. His radiant smile could light up a room, instantly making everyone feel welcome. He had a remarkable gift for making others feel valued and loved, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Mike is survived by Morgan Ansley Griffith and their children, Brooks, Ryann, and Emory. He also leaves behind his sister, Caroline Stein, and his parents, Nancy Griffith and Mike Griffith Jr. His presence in our lives was a gift, and his memory will continue to inspire and uplift us.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Mike's life on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 11 am at Myers Park Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Mike's honor, reflecting his generous spirit and love for his community.
