

He was a loving husband and father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was loved in his community and church and will be remembered for his generosity, compassion, and complete devotion to his family. Chuck was born outside Jackson, Missouri on September 1st, 1919, the son of the late August and Tora Overbeck. He was preceded in death by Marguerite, 'Peg', his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, who passed away in January of this year and also by his brothers, Ates, Challis, and Kennet. He is survived by his son Ron and wife Alice, daughter Karen and husband David, and son Greg and wife Carla. He will be forever missed by his grandchildren, Clarissa and Ben Sellers, Wesley Overbeck, Mark and Lisa Turner, Matthew and Kristen Turner, Jackson and Carson Overbeck, as well as his great grandchildren Zachary and Dorian. Chuck served his country in the US Navy during World War II.
He then continued his military service in the Air Force, and retired to Charlotte after serving 22 years. He and the family were stationed in Germany and posts across the United States. Chuck and Peg were avid golfers and charter members of Pine Island Country Club, where he continued to enjoy camaraderie and competition with his many friends at the club. He had 5 holes in one in his golf career. He played golf until the day he died, shooting a 92 that very morning. Chuck and Peg were also active members of Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, and he served as a church Deacon and Elder for many years. He was also honored as an Elder Emeritus. Chuck worked tirelessly in Paw Creek Cemetery, restoring over 130 damaged headstones and was honored by the church for his efforts. Chuck was a special man who will never leave the hearts of his friends and family.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 28th at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church with Reverend Gary Bryant officiating. The family will receive
friends from 3:00 to 4:00 in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paw Creek Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by Forrest Lawn West (704) 395-0055.
