

Christina Todd died Friday, October 21, 2016, at age 95. Born in Raleigh, NC on January 5th, 1921 to Thomas L. Creekmore and Christina F. Creekmore, Tina was the eldest of two children and sister to Thomas Creekmore, Jr. who survives her. She was predeceased by Edwin Richard (Ed) Todd, her husband of 63 years.
She is survived by four sons, Richard Todd (Lynn), Mark Todd (Shan), Clif Todd (Dae) and David Todd (Suzanne); eight grandchildren, Michael (Toni), Raymond (Erin), Jennifer, Gerald (Lauren), Walter, Brittany (Jim), Christopher and Paige; four great-grandchildren, Christy, Savannah, James, and Evan; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She met her future husband, Ed, while a student at Peace College in Raleigh, NC. After marrying in 1942, they traveled to Seattle, where she lived while he served in the Navy. Post war, they lived in Oklahoma, Chicago, Atlanta, finally settling in Charlotte in 1953. While raising four active boys, she developed a keen interest in gardening, with an eye towards an oriental esthetic. As a longtime member of Sardiswood Garden Club, The Charlotte Council of Garden Clubs, The North Carolina Garden Club, The National Garden Club and Ikebana International Chapter 47, she served in a variety of rolls in each. She participated in and received multiple blue ribbons for her arrangements in numerous judged events. She continued as an active club member until very recently. As an active member of Myers Park Presbyterian Church, Tina participated in Circle and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. She loved to cook, and always set a beautiful table for every special occasion. Tina loved Christmas best of all and filled her house with joy and favorite decorations. For over 40 years she enjoyed yearly trips to Sunset Beach with family and dear friends, always looking forward to her next stay throughout the entire year. Her beautiful gardens and pond were her treasure, where she spent many happy hours. As a symbol of her independence, Tina maintained a current driver's license. She lived her life with kindness and grace and with deep love and affection for family and friends.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 26, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Harry & Bryant Funeral Home, 500 Providence Road. A memorial service to celebrate Tina’s life will be held Thursday, October 27 at 2:00 pm at Myers Park Presbyterian Church at 2501 Oxford Pl.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to Sardiswood Community Education Fund at 1820 E. 7th St., Charlotte, N.C. 28204 or a charity of your choice.
