

Claudia Frances Eaton McConnell, age 95, of the Oakdale Community, passed away peacefully Friday, November 27, 2015 at Olde Knox Commons in Huntersville, NC. Frances was born May 31, 1920 to the late Lloyd Calloway Eaton Sr. and Bertha Nivens Eaton of Charlotte, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harry Jones McConnell Sr., and brothers, James Eaton and Lloyd C. Eaton, Jr.
A visitation will begin at 12:00 PM on Monday November 30, 2015 at Covenant United Methodist Church with a service to celebrate Frances’s life at 1:00 PM. Private graveside service for the family will be at McGee Cemetery. Pastor Frederick Bowman of Covenant United Methodist Church is officiating.
Frances dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, her family, her church, and helping others. Her main focus was to help those in need. That was her legacy to so many people. She was an example of Christ like none other to her family, friends, and even strangers that she just met. Frances and Harry served at several churches for over 50 years.
Frances was the secretary for Eaton Oil Co. and Lake Wylie True Value Hardware, Inc. and retired in 1985. She was a home maker for many years. There was always food and fellowship at the McConnell’s home.
She is survived by her son, Harry McConnell, Jr and wife, Susan and her daughter, Teresa McConnell Todd. Surviving grandchildren are Tripp (Stacy), Casey (Jason), Brenna, Scotty, Bryan, Jody, and Travis, and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to Olde Knox Commons in Huntersville NC. They cared for her the last 10 months of her life. A special thanks to the staff, nurses, and CNA’s at Olde Knox Commons. An extra special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Lake Norman and Nurse Beth Ricciani, CNA Angie Lassiter, and Social Worker Catherine Auten. They made her last days as comfortable as possible and we are grateful for that.
