

Mr. McDonald, age 85, of Charlotte, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Hospice House of Union County. Born November 17, 1924 in Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late C.C. McDonald and Ida Mae Sides McDonald. He attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Schools. Mr. McDonald served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He retired in 1982 as a mechanic of Associated Transport after 28 years of service. Mr. McDonald was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
The service to celebrate the life of Clyde Jack McDonald will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Brian M. Taule, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae Carpenter McDonald; two sons, Clyde Douglas McDonald of China Grove and Benjamin E. McDonald of Rome, GA; a daughter, Martha Jill McDonald of Spartanburg, SC; two stepsons, Roland Helms and Ronald Helms, both of Charlotte; two stepdaughters, Loretta Isaacs of Charlotte and Brenda Spizzo of Durham; three sisters, Elizabeth Gurley, Hazel Stokes and Dora Brunk, all of Charlotte; 13 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by a son, Darwin McDonald and a grandson, Andy McDonald.
