Born December 29, 1957 in Greensboro, she was the daughter of Goldston F. Harris and Ann M. Harris. Following graduation from West Charlotte High School, Cynthia continued her education at Greensboro College before graduating with a B.A. in Political Science (81) from UNC-Chapel Hill. Her work interest paralleled as she worked in the WNC Methodist Conference business office under Rev. Olin Isenhour, managed a Ritz Camera store in Durham, worked for the home office of Performance Bicycle in Chapel Hill, and most recently served as a caretaker for Mouzon United Methodist Church, where she was also a member.
Cynthia’s enthusiasm, quick wit, and caring for others was always evident, even through the challenges of a colon cancer diagnosis. She always wanted to make a nurse’s day a little brighter or get a laugh out of a doctor. The family is appreciative of the professionalism and care provided by Oncology Specialists of Charlotte, CMC Main Fourth Floor Nurses , Levine Cancer Institute, and finally Hospice.
She is survived by her parents, Goldston F. Harris and Ann Harris; four siblings and two brothers-in-law, Edward F. Harris of Decatur, GA, Sarah Warren (Tim) of Raleigh, Martha Harris (Brad Nagel) of Red Wing, MN, and Thomas G. Harris of Charlotte. Also surviving are three nieces and a nephew, Garrett M. Warren, Erin G. Warren , Emily B. Nagel and Willa A. Nagel.
The family will have a private graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Linwood Brooks. The family welcomes all for a celebration of Cynthia’s life on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11:00 am at Mouzon United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
