

A graduate of Alfred Tech, and Elmira College with a degree in business, Dale forged a successful career in medical sales with Proctor and Gamble and went on to develop and create sales teams and international product development with Premium Plastics and Sabre Scientific. When he retired, Dale obtained his South and North Carolina real estate licenses and worked with Megan and Barbara as Team Watts at Century 21 First Choice.
Dale’s passion was service and his involvement in the community is legendary.
“Tega Cay 56” was a lifetime member of the Tega Cay Fire Department serving as a certified fire fighter, officer of the department, and awarded Fire Fighter of the Year in 1990. Dale spent many hours volunteering with the Tega Cay Lions Club serving in many capacities including President and New Member Chair. He was honored as Lion of the Year, was a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Dr. Franklin G. Mason Fellow, and inducted into the South Carolina Lions Hall of Fame in 2018.
As a member of Grace Presbyterian Church he served as a “holy mower”, with meals on wheels and other activities including the annual yard sale fund raiser.
He volunteered with the Lake Wylie Lutheran Church Community Café, the Tega Cay Community Service Committee, the Senior Citizens Christmas Party, the International Student Exchange, and many more. He was named the Tega Cay Citizen of the Year 2005-2006.
Dale’s accomplishments were written into the National Congressional Record by House of Representative Ralph Norman, Tuesday, June 30, 2020. The record ends with this statement: “Dale Watts has dedicated his entire life in service to others and exemplifies the slogan “Service Above Self”. As a result of his tireless work, the community, the State, and the Nation are a better place to live and raise a family.”
Dale is survived by Barbara, his wife of 44 years. He has 5 children, Michael Watts, Kelly Hawley (Kelly and Brett Hawley), Richard August, Michael August (Sanela and Michael August), Megan Cynowa (Megan and Robert Cynowa, Jr.) and 6 grandchildren, Cole Hawley, Carson Hawley, Hunter Watts, Leila August, Tristan Cynowa (deceased), Jade Cynowa, and River Cynowa, as well as his brother, Leon “Bud” Watts.
A brother, David Watts, preceded him in death.
A service to celebrate Dale’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Grace Presbyterian Church, Hwy 160, Fort Mill, SC. For those unable to attend, please attend via livestream of Dale’s service https://youtu.be/1W1p-YKfFkA
