David was a graduate of Pearl River High School Class of 1994. Early on he worked at United Artists Theater Circuit and Barr Pharmaceuticals. He obtained his B.A. from State University of New York (SUNY) at Purchase and then graduated St. John’s University Law School with his Juris Doctorate in 2011. David went on to pass the NY Bar on his first attempt and was a bankruptcy lawyer in midtown Manhattan. After a meeting his partner Jimmy, he moved to Charlotte, NC and landed his dream job as Lead Compliance Officer, Assistant VP at Wells Fargo.
David is survived by his partner of almost 10 years, Jimmy Worlin of Charlotte, NC. Together they enjoyed sharing their love and laughter with family and friends, game nights until wee hours of the morning, raising their two dogs Bodhi and Olenna, and traveling the world by plane, train and cruise ship. He recently developed a passion for hydroponic gardening. He is also survived by his loving parents, Judi and David Allen of Pearl River, NY, his sisters Dawn Allen of Park Ridge, NJ, and Deana Brown of Warwick, NY, his brother-in-law Peter Brown, nephews Patrick, Alex, Thomas and niece Julie, his extended family through his partnership with Jimmy and several close friends who all clearly loved David.
David had a big smile, a big laugh and a big heart. He was shy until he got to know you and then it was full on. His dry sense of humor will never be forgotten. David is loved by many and will be sorely missed. We will meet again my friend.
Memorial service will be held at McKee Baptist Church, 4300 McKee Road, Charlotte, NC 28270 on Saturday April 29th, 2023, at 11:30 am. Following the service, join us for lunch and a beverage, to celebrate David’s life. The service will be casual, as David would prefer, and all are welcome.
It was David’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org or another pet fostering charity of your choice.
Condolences may be offered at www.McEwenPinevilleChapel.com.
