Dexter Royal Yager Sr.

Dexter was born to Leonard and Gertrude Yager December 6, 1939 in Fulton, New York. He married his wife, Birdie Narehood in 1957 at the age of 17. Together, they raised seven children and moved their family from Rome, NY to Charlotte, NC in 1969.

Dexter is survived by his wife, Birdie of 61 years, their children and spouses; Dexter Jr., Doyle and Holly, April and Michael, Lisa, Jeff and Rhonda, Leanne and Tim, Steven and Cecile, 27 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, his brother, Richard and sister, Lillian.

“Dex” fulfilled his life purpose as a devoted Christian, lover of freedom, country, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, businessman, entrepreneur and author. He shared his faith and free enterprise principles freely with anyone who would listen…. and millions did

He started many businesses over the years but his first and most successful was his own independent Amway distributorship that he and his wife Birdie started 54 years ago. They were the first to achieve many of the highest levels in the Amway business which spread to more than 80 countries. The Yager name, philosophies and methods became synonymous with success within the direct selling, multi-level marketing industry.

A public celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Elevation Church - Ballantyne, 11701 Elevation Point Drive, Charlotte, NC 28277. There is no invitation required and the service is open to all of the public. At this time, we are not planning to broadcast the service. As we are not sure how many people to expect, we want to encourage people who plan to attend the Celebration of Life to allow time for parking, getting inside the building and getting seated.
