

Donald Elson Conrade passed away on January 19, 2011 peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 29, 1938 in New Kensington, PA. He grew up in Atlanta, GA and attended Henry Grady High School and Georgia State University. He began his career with Chevrolet Motor Division out of college and was employed for 38 years. Throughout his professional career, he held District Management positions in the southeast and retired as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Marketing Manager in Charlotte, N.C. He was instrumental in the promotion of NASCAR in conjunction with Chevrolet Motor Division. His hard work and dedication earned him great success in his career, building lasting relationships with his peers. Others admired his attention to detail and organizational skills. Everything he endeavored to do in his life was approached with enthusiasm and a determination to complete it to perfection. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He especially loved watching college and pro-football games with his wife and sons.
His wife, Carolyn Williams Conrade of Knoxville, Tennessee whom he married on March 18, 1961 survives him. On March 18, 2011 they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. His sons, Michael W. Conrade and wife Angela of Charlotte, Robert E. Conrade and fiancée, Robin Young of Waxhaw, David J. Conrade and wife Melanie of Waxhaw and his brother Fredrick ‘Ted’ Conrade of Savannah Georgia, also survive him. His parents, Fredrick S. and Louise Conrade of Lehigh Acres, Florida, preceded him in death. A loving husband and father, he enjoyed the time he spent with his beloved granddaughter, Kendall.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd., Charlotte, NC. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3715 Rea Rd. Charlotte, NC 28226 with Rev Jae Lee officiating.
