Donna Claire Wieczorek

Donna Hart Wieczorek, 92, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Carolinas Medical Center/Atrium. Her family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Friday, January 20, 2023, in the narthex of St. Gabriel Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Inurnment will follow the service in the church columbarium.

Donna Wieczorek was born in Madison, WI on July 20, 1930, to the late Donald William Hart and Frances Lorraine Hoffman. She graduated from East High School, Rockford, IL in 1948. She attended the Marguerite Neumeister Ballet Studio in Rockford, IL and the Cameron Stone Ballet Studio in Chicago, IL. She attended Rockford Summer Business School.

She was employed by Barber Colman Company, Rockford, IL and met the love of her life, Stanley Wieczorek. Stan and Donna were married at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Loves Park, IL on May 10, 1952. She then worked at Unit Machinery until her children were born. Once her children were in school, she returned to work at Roseberg, Sneed, and Brooks. The family moved to Charlotte, NC August 1976 when Stan took a new job. She continued working as an accountant at Orthopedic Hospital, later Presbyterian Hospital, and finally Novant Hospital until she retired. Following retirement, she volunteered for the Shining Stars Group at St. Gabriel’s Church. She worked in the After School Program at St. Gabriel’s School for 11 years until Covid struck.

Donna will be remembered for the warmth and kindness she brought to those around her. She was incredibly proud of her family. She loved them deeply, always cherishing the holidays, continuing family traditions, and never missing a birthday card. She loved ballet and taught steps to her granddaughter. Donna enjoyed playing golf and ballroom dancing with Stan. She was a skilled baker, knitter, and seamstress. Most of all she loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Stan and Donna enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren and cherished family vacations at the beach.

Donna is survived by her daughter Paula Hoogerland (Greg), son Luke Wieczorek, and her beloved grandchildren Alexandra Wieczorek Hagans (JR), Zachary Hoogerland (Kasey), Erica Scudder (Mike), Landen Wieczorek, and her great-grandchildren Madison and Max Hagans and her many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donna was predeceased by her parents, stepfather, Maynard Yocom, her brother Vance Hoffman (5/18/56), Husband Stan Wieczorek (04/02/2004), Son Peter (05/29/2011).

Expressions of sympathy memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, NC and the Poor Clares Monastery, Rockford, IL.
