

Mrs. Renfro, 88, of Charlotte, NC passed away on August 4, 2011. She was born on March 12, 1923 in White Plains, GA, daughter of the late Rosalie Stewart Darden and Thomas Jethro Darden; and beloved wife of the late Billy Byron Renfro.
Dot graduated from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA, and went on to teach in Milledgeville.
She was a member of Carmel Country Club and a member of St. John’s Baptist Church, where she served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Worker’s Sunday School Class. Dorothy was a Sunday school teacher, volunteered at Mama’s Inn, and was a den mother of a Cub Scout Troop at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Charlotte.
Dot enjoyed a good game of golf and bridge. Big Band Music and dancing were her passion. She was the matriarch of a large loving family. As a wonderful hostess, she had many gatherings at her home for friends and family. We love her and will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her son, Billy Byron Renfro, Jr. and wife, Vickie Lee Renfro; her daughter, Carmen Renfro Howard and husband, Charles Andrew Howard, II; grandchildren, Ashlie Renfro Wilson and husband, Allen Wilson, Billy Byron Renfro, III, Jennifer Regan Sharpe and husband, Cameron Barrett Sharpe, Charles Andrew Howard III and wife, Misty Howard, Leigh Meyer and husband, James Meyer, and Kelly Crenshaw. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, Margaux Solheim, Victoria Solheim, Ava Sharpe, Chase Howard, Melissa Howard, Aubrey Meyer, Dallas Meyer, McKenzie Meyer, Darden Meyer, Carson Crenshaw, Avery Crenshaw, and Alexander Crenshaw.
A service in celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2011 in the Chapel at St. John’s Baptist Church, with the Reverend Lee Gray officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the parlor at the church. Interment at Sharon Memorial Park will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Baptist Church.
