Dorothy Shrum Williams

grandmother passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, February 28, 2025.

She was born November 21, 1933 in Charlotte NC to the late Gustus Falls Shrum and Choyce Martin

Shrum. She married James Morton Williams in 1955.

After moving to Florida in 1988, she and Jim enjoyed taking long road trips where they managed to visit

all but two states. Some of her favorite trips were taken by cruise ship where she visited from Alaska all

the way to the Panama Canal. She visited local landmarks in London and Paris.

She will be missed in her neighborhood as she enjoyed sitting on her porch or raking leaves so she could

talk to anyone walking by her home. She will be especially missed by her devoted neighbors and friends,

Carole and Curtis Chapman and Nancy and Charles Simon.

She is survived by son Jimmy and Frances Williams of Newnan, GA and daughter Debbie and Virgal Neel

of Beacon Hill, FL, brother Ray and Lee Shrum of Gastonia, NC, grandchildren: Lorey and Jim Choe of San

Diego, CA, Sabrina Biggers of Newnan, GA, Renae Adolf, Belinda and Blake Schreiber, Jeff Jr. and Megan

Williams, all of McDonough, GA. Great grandchildren: Jakob Choe and Riley Choe of San Diego, CA, Fenix

Jackson and Georgia Jackson of Newnan, GA, Autumn Harper, Jayson Hack, Jeffrey Williams III and Clark

Williams, all of McDonough, GA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years James Morton Williams, an infant daughter, and

son, Jeffrey Falls Williams.

The Williams family will greet friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Friday, the 7th of March, 2025 at McEwen Funeral Service at Forest Lawn West, 4601 Freedom Drive, Charlotte. The Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
