Dot, 97, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 5th, 2021 at the Pavilion at Brightmore in Charlotte, NC. She was in the care and company of Gale Groseclose, her daughter and the dedicated hospice workers from the last several years.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Col. Grayson Brock and her sister, Margaret Duke and most significantly by her loving and devoted husband Preston D Wyatt whom she adored and longed to be reunited with for the last 34 years.
Born November 20, 1923 in Richmond, VA., she was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and worked for many years and retired from the Bell telephone company. She was an ardent supporter of dancing with the troops at Fort Lee during WWII and continued to love dancing with the love of her life “Honeyboy” Wyatt over their 40 year marriage. They frequented Tantilla Gardens and many square dance events.
After her dancing days faded she remained a huge fan of playing cards until she passed. Her family was the center of her life and she honored that love by having her mother live with us until she needed skilled nursing care. Mom loved to laugh and enjoyed her friends and family camping along the way. So many fun and carefree memories of these along with memorable Christmas and Beach family gatherings in Richmond, Va. Beach and Myrtle Beach.
Dot was a member of Bon Air Baptist Church in Richmond, VA during her family raising years and joined Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC once she moved here in 1998.
She is survived by two children, Preston Douglas (Doug) Wyatt living in Tampa, FL. and Gale Wyatt Groseclose living in Charlotte, NC. as well as five grandchildren, Jordan Wyatt of Boynton Beach, FL, Emily Wyatt Page of Tampa, FL, Allison Wyatt of Jacksonville, FL, Carter Groseclose of Fort Mill, SC, and Wyatt Groseclose of Charlotte, NC. Additionally, Dot had six great grandchildren, Preston Wyatt, Kennedy Wyatt, Elizabeth Page, Abigail Page, Virginia Groseclose and Tripp Groseclose.
