

Born on February 25, 1921 in a farm house near Guthrie, Oklahoma, Edith was the youngest of nine children born to the late Emmaline Clawson Wyatt and Jefferson A. Wyatt. In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her eight brothers and sisters and by her husband, Carl B. Davis.
In 1936 at age 15, Edith moved with her parents and her three living youngest siblings from the dust bowl of Oklahoma to China Grove NC where she finished high school. She met her husband, Carl there and they were married on August 20, 1941. They had been married for 58 ½ years when Carl died on February 26, 2000.
Edith was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years. In the summer of 2009 she was honored for her 37 years of service in the Sunday school class for special needs children and adults, which she helped establish.
Edith was always a loving, devoted spouse and mother and a caring friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
Edith is survived by her son, Steve Davis and wife Linda of Matthews; daughter, Laraine Davis Dupree and her husband Dale and by daughter, Carol Annette Davis of the Myers Park UMAR Group Home in Charlotte. She is survived by three grandchildren, Kim Dupree Downs of Wingate, Tommy Dupree and wife Allison of Monroe, Michelle Davis Spain and husband Andrew of Kansas; four great-grandchildren, Cody Dupree, Samantha Dupree, Savannah Downs, Travis Downs; two step-great-grandchildren, Anna Plyler, Robert Plyler and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19 in the chapel at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Rd., Charlotte. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove, NC. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

The children of Edith Wyatt Davis would like to thank the staff of Wilora Lake Lodge and the patrons there for their great care and concern. We also want to thank the doctors, nurses and aides at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews and at Jesse Helms Nursing Center and Hospice in Monroe for their tremendous loving care during our mother’s last days.
