Edith was born and raised in Nordhausen, Germany, and as a young woman attended secretarial school doing clerical work for a manufacturing company while still in Germany. After moving to Michigan with her husband and family, she secured a job at Sears, working in the fine jewelry sales department. She earned her degree in Medical Records at Schoolcraft College, and subsequently worked as a Medical Records Technician at Pontiac Hospital.
Edith enjoyed gardening, homemaking, square dancing and ballroom dancing. She was very active in her church, Christ Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC teaching Bible studies, as well as attending Bible Study Fellowship. After moving to Charlotte, NC she attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church. She had a very strong faith and continued to call on her Lord throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughter Elke Rickard (Michael), her son Hans Sigfried Kaiser (Michelle), and three grandchildren: Zachary Kaiser, Jackie Kaiser, and Jessica Kaiser and by sister Ursula Leim. Edith was preceded in death by her husband Hans J. Kaiser on October 16, 2013; mother and father Liesbeth and Kurt Flinzer and by her sister Hannelore Witche.
A celebration of life will be held 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 29 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 7200 E. WT Harris Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28215. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
