Ellen Audrey Bowman, 76, of Charlotte, N.C., died Sept. 20, 2013, peacefully in her sleep. Ellen was the daughter of Arley and Eliza Pettit of Rockford, Ill. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Randy Bowman, and her brother Forest Pettit. She is survived by her son Dan, of Charlotte, granddaughter Kristy and twin granddaughters of Macon, Ga., and niece Linda and nephew Mark of Rockford. Ellen, a homemaker and beautician, grew up in Rockford, and graduated from Rockford West High School. Ellen and Randy were high school sweethearts and made their home in LeRoy, Ill. Ellen enjoyed singing in the LeRoy Methodist Church choir, painting, crafts, and travel. Following Randy’s passing in 2011, Ellen relocated from Central Illinois to Charlotte, NC to be close to family. The family had a private service.
