Emilee (Hinds) Cochran Lamb

Emilee Hinds Cochran Lamb of Charlotte passed away on March 9, 2021. She was born on August 24, 1926 in the small community of Marion, SC and had happy memories of growing up on her parent’s farm with her three siblings. A WWII bride, she moved to Charlotte with her husband in 1952. They had some lively times. While Emilee remained in North Carolina until her passing, she harbored a deep nostalgia for the simpler pace of life in Marion.

Thanks to her upbringing, Emilee maintained a love of fresh produce her entire life and liked nothing better than going to a farmer’s market. She was well versed in Southern cooking and continued to prepare made-from-scratch meals and goodies until three weeks before her passing. Her greatest joy was raising and cooking for her two children, but she also had a career as an office manager and coordinator, working for a local dental practice, an urgent care center, and finally with the Mecklenburg County Health Department.

In addition to cooking, Emilee’s hobbies included reading, listening to music, word puzzles, and, in her younger days, travelling overseas with her second husband and in the US with her daughter. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Emilee was predeceased by husband James R. Cochran, Sr., ex-husband Robert G. Lamb, her three siblings, and her beloved daughter, Cynthia L. Cochran. She is survived by her son James R. Cochran, Jr.; daughter-in-law Kelly Cochran; niece Sabrina Smith; nephew Marc Skipper and family; niece Michelle Sharp and family and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID-19 safety concerns, a private graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn West on Saturday, March 13, 2021. McEwen Funeral Service is serving the family.
