

Ernest Clark Todd, age 81 of Charlotte passed away December 19, 2011 at Levine & Dickson Hospice at Huntersville. A service to celebrate his life will be at 11:30AM Wednesday at Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church, Reverends Robert Chambers and David Arledge officiating. Private Interment will be in Moores Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30AM in the Multi-purpose Room of Garden Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Todd was born October 11, 1930 in Rowan County son of the late Ernest Custer and Grace Clark Todd. He was a charter member of Garden Memorial Presbyterian Church and was active in his Sunday School Class and served as a Deacon. He was a graduate of Paw Creek High School, worked for Southern Bell prior to joining the Navy in 1951. He proudly served his country on the USS Yancey AKA93 until 1955 when he returned to Southern Bell. Ernest became manager in the coin phone division until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed being a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Stumptown Tractor Club, served on the board of directors of the West Mecklenburg VFD (formerly chief of Moores Chapel VFD), and attending Presbyterian Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation for 10 years
Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Puckett Todd,. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janice Ann Todd and a son, Edward Clark Todd.
