Frances "Fran" Barnhart

Mrs. Frances (Fran) Richardson Barnhart, born on March 13, 1925 in Wilmington, Delaware, to the late Hester Coy Richardson and the late Edmund Winston Richardson, passed away at age 94 on April 28, 2019 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She graduated from Pierre S Dupont High School in 1943. Frances was the loving wife of 40 years to the late Roger J. Barnhart. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Richardson. Frances is survived by her sons, Roger Richardson Barnhart (Dani) and Edmund Winston Barnhart (Susan); daughter, Barbara Barnhart Meek (James); sister, Hester Richardson Mazie; grandchildren, Alison Meek Wells (Lance), James Gardner Meek III (Lauren), Madison Ann Barnhart, Aubrie Frances Barnhart, Rachel Barnhart Tweed (Jeff), Emily Frances Barnhart, and Dan Lee Richardson Barnhart; and great-grandchildren, Stone Benjamin Wells, Branch Richardson Wells and James Gardner Meek IV.

Frances served in numerous positions in volunteer organizations including Chairman of the Mecklenburg County Republican Party and served as an elector to the United States Electoral College in 2000. She was elected to the North Carolina Republican Party Hall of Fame in 1993. She was a long-time member at Saint John’s Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church. Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service on Tuesday, May 28 at 3:00 pm at St John's Episcopal Church, 1623 Carmel Rd, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28226.
