CELEBRATION OF LIFE
Ganiel Valetta Mack
Sunrise: September 26, 1930 - Sunset: February 12, 2025
Ganiel Valetta Mack, was born to the parents of Albert and Emma Smith on September 26, 1930. She departed this life on February 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. The oldest of twelve children, she accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at First Baptist Church in Freedom, PA.
A mother to many, Ganiel was the matriarch of a large and loving family. She was proud to tell everyone that she had ten children. She raised her family with wisdom and a heart full of love. Her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, home-cooked meals, dance, and music – a place where family and friends gathered to share in the love she so effortlessly gave.
Throughout her life, she became well-known for her good homestyle cooking, along with her made-from-scratch cheese buns. Ganiel had a generous spirit, strong faith, and a simple way of making everyone feel special. Whether through her gentle words, a comforting embrace, or the simple joy of sharing a story (or ‘turning pages’) as she liked to say, she left a mark on all who knew her.
She is survived by: her sons, Russell Carter, Jr, Robert Carter, Richard Carter; and daughters, Peggy Ann ‘Olivia’ Carter, Kimberly (Phillip) Malone, Apryl (Eduane) Wade, Sarah Ann Doby, and Lisa (Cortez) Rich; brothers, Eugene (Carolyn) Smith, John (Ethel) Smith, William (Patricia) Smith, Phillip (Deborah) Smith and sisters, Beverly Bell, Jacqueline (Joseph) Moye, and Leona Curry, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
She is reunited in peace with her parents, her loving and devoted husband, James W. Mack, daughters Denise Carter and Roberta Gardner; an infant son; two brothers Albert Smith, Jr., and David Smith; a sister, Linda (Phillip) White; and the loved ones who went before her.
A funeral service will be held on February 22, 2025 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park located at 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212. Visitation will begin at 11AM, followed by the service at 12PM.
Her love, wisdom, and gentle strength will remain in our hearts always.
