Georgia Hurt

Georgia Lee Mundy Hurt, 103, died September 12, 2010. She was born in Denver, NC on January 24, 1907 to the late Robert Osborne Mundy and Maggie Allen Mundy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Esley Cunningham Hurt in 1967; granddaughter, Linda Hurt Doncaster in May, 2010; six sisters; one brother and a son-in-law, James T. Black.

Georgia is survived by a son, John Marion Hurt and his wife, Colene of Statesville, NC; daughters Jo Anne Hurt Core and husband, George V. Core of Charlotte NC; Norma Hurt Black of Wilmington, NC; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Georgia was a graduate of the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte in 1928 and enjoyed a successful career as a Registered Nurse. She was a long-time member of Midwood Baptist Church where she was very active in her younger years.

A celebration of her life will be held at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Road at 1:00pm on September 14. All are invited for brunch and visitation 12:00n – 1:00p. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park immediately following the service. Dr. Garry Baldwin of Midwood Baptist will officiate.
