Geri was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, her loss is deeply felt by all who knew her. Loved family missing Geri are her husband Ed Button, children Susan Peebles McGeary (Michael), Rick Peebles, sister Sharon King (Don), brother Roger Teagarden (Darlene), grandchildren Ryan, Luke and Kirstin McGeary, nieces Susan, Vicki, Heather, Courtney and nephew Brian as well as many, many loving Feldhausen and Teagarden cousins.
Geri was born in Decatur Illinois January 21, 1943 to Merrill and Doris Teagarden. Her family moved frequently following Merrill’s work assignments, one of her favorite locations being the time spent in Kansas while her father was serving in the war. Geri spent her high school years and settled in the Western New York/Buffalo area. It was there she met and married David Peebles in 1962.
Geri was raised with a strong work ethic and continued to be that example for her children. Geri was a secretary for a local business in Alden NY and got her start in the furniture business working for Kittinger Furniture in Buffalo in customer service. One of her customers was so impressed with her work that they offered her a job. Geri moved to Charlotte, NC in 1983 and started a new life working for Mecklenberg Furniture where she stayed until she retired in 2004 after 21 years of devoted service.
Geri met Ed Button on a plane, May 23, 1986 and they were married 1 year later May 23, 1987. They shared many years of laughs and love, traveling, visiting family and becoming very active members at Central Church.
Geri was not all about work, she loved to entertain friends and visit her Kansas family. She always had at the ready her change purse of coins and was eager to sit at the table for a lively round of cards. Smiling, chatting and quietly letting her pile of coins pile up! Geri was blessed to find great community at Central Church and was a very active member. Geri was involved as a Care Team Leader, a Primetimer volunteer, many areas of women’s ministry and Life Group Class. These groups kept Geri busy finding and providing comfort to many!
A victory service will be held for Geri on November 17th 2022. This service will be held at Central Church, 5301 Sardis Road, Charlotte NC at 2:00 pm. There will be a reception at church after to share memories and celebrate Geri’s life!
