Gladys Doyle Canaday, age 94 of Weston, WV and former long- time resident of Charlotte, wife of the late James M. Canaday, Sr., passed away Wednesday, October 17th. Born in Cowpens, SC on January 30, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Jessie and Estelle (Smith) Wade. Mrs. Canaday was a devoted member of Beth Haven Baptist Church for over 40 years and also served as head of the church nursery program for 35 years. She is survived by her daughter Doris Shillingburg and husband Lawrence of Weston, WV; 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son and a daughter. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, 3:30 PM at Beth Haven Baptist Church, 1783 Beth Haven Church Rd., Denver, NC., with Pastor David Mims to officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 to 3:30PM at the church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
