Glenn Ervin Sutton

Born April 6, 1948, in Lumberton, NC, he was the son of the late Willie Sutton and Lou Bertha Sutton. Following a four-year stint with the United States Air Force, he started a career as Engineer with Bell South, now AT&T. After 30 years, he retired, however continued to work as a Telecommunication Consultant for another 20 years.

The joy of his life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Glenn was also an avid golfer and enjoyed friendly competition with his son.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth McLaurin Sutton; two children, his daughter, Genia Tieese Sutton, and son, Glenn Keith Sutton (Kajule) of Charlotte. He also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Deveny Elizabeth Shine and Evan Christopher Glenn Sutton.

Glenn also had eight siblings who he loved dearly. James Sutton, Robert Sutton, Wilton Sutton, and Lisa Sutton preceded him in death. His surviving siblings are Barbara Sutton, Bertha Lewis, of Charlotte, Ronald Sutton of Tennessee and Linda Sutton of Lumberton. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Glenn will be held Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00 PM at McEwen Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Rd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28210.
