Gloria Jean Pettry Rodes

A native of Crab Orchard, West Virginia, Mrs. Rodes was born to the late Jess Crocket Pettry and Beulah Legg Pettry on March 14, 1933. She graduated from Collins High School in Oak Hill, W.VA and married Carl Max Rodes on April 19, 1952 in Gatewood, W.VA. Mrs. Rodes was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Rodes worked together on the church bus ministry and then later with the Jolly 60’s at Northside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 2008.

Mrs. Rodes is survived by her daughters, Pamela Joy Young of Arlington, TX, Shevon Jane Shymanski of Houston, TX, Cheryl Jeanine Casella of Dunbar, W. VA, Tanya Jo Armstrong of Charlotte; brother, Ronald Pettry of Maiden; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 11:00a.m., Tuesday, August 21 in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Chris Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends 7:00p.m. to 9:00p.m., Monday evening at McEwen Funeral Service, Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte.
