

She was born to Cecil and Mildred Lucas on April 24, 1926 in Beaver, PA. They relocated to Pt. Pleasant, WV, where she and her two sisters grew up on their farm. Violet May (Bill) Safford and Frankie Lou (Keith) Shinn, all deceased.
Grace graduated from Pt. Pleasant High School and then worked as a telephone operator. She married Wayne E. Folden in 1954. They resided in Pt. Pleasant, WV where they had two children, Lu Ann Folden (Greg) Burke and Tony (Tammy) Folden. In 1960 the family moved to Gallipolis, OH. Grace has been a member of the First Baptist Church since then. She had many great friends there. She was also a wonderful neighbor and friend to everyone on Vinton Avenue, always a sweet smile and kind word for everyone she met. Wayne passed away in 1995.
Grace is survived by her husband, Raymond Hawk whom she married in 2004 and his three children, Kevin (Tammy) Hawk, Tammy (Frank) Cox, and Jennifer (Jeff) Boyd. Grace and Ray moved to Charlotte, NC in 2006. Also surviving Grace is Joan (Garland) Folden, sister-in-law. She had three nephews: Steve (Jan) Safford, Ron Safford (deceased) and Tom (Judy) Folden and three nieces: Jill Shinn (Kent) Ehman, Carol Folden (Howard) Taylor and Karen Folden (Bob) Balcerzak.
She was blessed with eight beautiful grandchildren and they were blessed to have her for their “MaMa”! A more loving and caring grandmother cannot be found. Erica Nicole (DJ) Johnston, Mack Brandon (Jen) Layne, Alana Shea (Matthew) Boyd, Cecelia Anne (Don) Panicko, Carson Wayne Burke, Cheyanne Grace Burke, Taylor Amelia (James) York and Trevor Anthony (Sarah) Folden.
MaMa Grace also adored her 10 great-grandchildren: Nate Johnston, Ruby Johnston, Larsen McKean, Harper Layne, Mack Layne, Stable Boyd, Traveller Boyd, Dante Panicko, Jay York and Briar Rose York.
Grace's favorite Bible verses were: Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.” Her most loved hymns were: “At the Cross” and “Blessed Assurance”, which she sang over and over as lullabies to her children and grandchildren.
She had many phrases, stories and sayings. These are some she shared with her grandchildren:
Nik: “You know what? I wear Big girl panties!!!”
Pook: “ You hold it MaMa, I just washed my hands!”
Lan: “Sing all da day MaMa, all da day!”
Cies: “Stop calkin…my calkin!”
Carsy: “Take your time Chey Chey!”
Chey: “No fried chicken…Duh!”
Tay: “Mal Mal!”
Trev: “ took his 1st steps for her!”
